About James Oliver

James Oliver James Oliver is a native of Cape Ann specializing in graphic art, and assemblage sculptures incorporating items found along area shores. At age 16 he learned the process of etching, and at one time, operated an etching studio in the Lanesville neighborhood of Gloucester, MA. He was co-owner and illustrator for North Shore North newspaper (2001-2003) and was also the illustrator for Common Sense newspaper and Gloucester Island News and did the cover art for author Peter Anastas book, A Walker In The City. James pencil drawing, �Floyd the Clam Digger� is in the permanent collection of the Cape Ann Museum. He is an award winning Artist and and Artist Member at the North Shore Arts Association and Contributing member at the Rockport Art Association . He s a former member of Local Colors Artist Cooperative and the Rocky Neck Art Colony and has many pieces in private collections around Cape Ann and the world. A Contributing member of the Rockport Art Association, an Artist Member of the the North Shore Arts Association, and former artist member at the Newburyport Art Association and Rocky Neck Art Colony, Jim is a Cape Ann Native and an accomplished, award winning graphic artist. He and his wife, award winning painter Eileen Patten Oliver, now live and make art on the South Shore of Massachusetts in the town of Carver. Jim is available for commissions.
